“உணவோடு உரையாடு – an interactive Food Expo” commemorating International Self-care Day was inaugurated on 24-07-24, at 9 AM in the MTM OPD at the Government Medical College, Omandurar Government Estate.Nutri-Stations were set up to provide health education to patients and care givers coupled with display and demonstration of conscious healthy eating. Five Nutri-Stations that align perfectly with the ethos of this day were manned & presented by students of Final MBBS part 1 each for carbohydrates, salt, fat oil & junk food titled “Smart Sugars, Salt Substitutes, Demysti-fat, RUCO (Re-purposed Used Cooking Oil) & Junk swap” respectively.
The essence of this event is to empower individuals about the importance of balanced nutrition, which is a fundamental aspect of physical health, there by promoting healthy eating to manage conditions like obesity, diabetes and other non-communicable diseases, which are linked to mental health issues. This interactive experience about the connection between diet and self-care allows people to take control of their well-being helping them to make informed choices about their diet and overall health.
